Banks

Lloyds Bank

17 Heath Rd, Twickenham TW1 4AW, UK – 0345 300 0000

This branch doesn't seem to be frequented too often, and I've never found I've had to wait long at all to see someone. They were super helpful the time when all my cards got cloned, and the cheque machine is super simple to use. Nice, bright, open and airy.

Pleasant and spacious and a nice place to visit, but like a lot of Lloyds banks these days it has a skeleton staff so watch out if you're in a rush. One teller and a queue is a common sight.

TSB Bank

122 High St, Hounslow TW3 1NA, UK – 020 8790 9980

I have banked here for over 20 years and I can say that the staff are absolutely wonderful. They are always very courteous, polite and always willing to help you. I've not ever had to wait more than a few minutes unlike other banks, and best of all, you can call the branch direct and a member of staff will answer your questions. Best bank hands down.

Many thanks to Paula for dealing with me in a thoroughly professional and helpful manner. The fact I was a bit aggressive and peeved notwithstanding, Paula went out of her way to placate reassure and explain the technicalities. Upon a return visit with additional paperwork to TSB rules, all was resolved. She must have the patience of a saint!

HSBC Bank Plc

127 High St, Hounslow TW3 1QP, UK – 0345 740 4404

Best and very professional Services, Account opened on same date.. I do Appreciate the Cönsultant Pam for her prompt help , also overall branch including very responsive customer services team

I've always had good experiences at this branch. Though it is a long wait on Saturdays, which is the only free day I have to visit, all the staff are most accommodating and generally try their utmost to ensure that your work is done. I have nothing but respect for them for the service I've been given. Kudos HSBC for a job well done!

Building Societies

Nationwide

32 Heath Rd, Twickenham TW1 4DD, UK – 0800 554 0262

Rather small and pokey branch but it has everything you need. And the Nationwide is a national treasure: our last building society - which means it is run for the benefit of its customers not its shareholders. It's also one of the best providers of added benefits accounts.

Local Chambers of Commerce for TW3 3JQ. These can be an extraordinarily effective way of getting into the business community and / or getting things done. Equally they can be entirely useless depending on the chair. If they have networking events associated with them definitely go, and keep going, if you have a business that need local support. What you put in is exactly what you get out. Below is the national site. Watch this slot - it might improve!
Richmond upon Thames York House

Twickenham TW1 3NH, UK

This building's lift is an awesome 1960s Otis. You can become lost in here because you never know if a door is locked or not. This is annoying

Nice building

London Borough of Richmond upon Thames

Civic Centre, 44 York St, Twickenham TW1 3BZ, UK – 020 8891 1411

Good service and help, used to be better but due to the demand the service has been streamlined, appointments for new claims have to be booked though walk in is still available for updating claims.

Food Waste not collected. Went online to RUTC site, Waste Collection page, reported non-collection, informed waste would be collected within two working days. It wasn't. Don't waste your time reporting online. Call them instead.

Dental Surgeries

Dhiman Dental

169 Percy Rd, Twickenham TW2 6JS, UK – 020 8894 3141

Dentists were friendly and gave me excellent advice on my teeth and I left with them much sparkly and cleaner than before. Based on my first time here I'd highly recommend it. Name is a little unfortunate

Excellent advice and great treatments by professional and ethical dentist! Finding a good dentist is all about honesty and trust. We have previously been ripped off... we came here for a second opinion, only to find out our first dentist was planning on creaming us for unnecessary treatments! It's a tad bit further for us to travel but it's definitely been worth it! I would definitely recommend Dhiman!

Ghauri Dental Centre

113 Vicarage Farm Rd, Hounslow TW5 0AA, UK – 020 8570 0435

Dentist and nurse exceptionally lovely and supportive. Very respectful of dental phobia. Listened and referred for correct treatments. Would happily recommend.

Excellent, attentive and supportive Surgery. Our family visited GDC last month for the first time with various teeth issues. Dr. Ines, Ms Pammi, Mr. Ahmed, Ms Rehanna, and the visiting hygienist took care of us extremely well. An extremely positive environment due to the people which makes a considerable difference in your trust and confidence for your practitioners. All our questions were answered with patience and respect, our teeth are now healthy and well. Highly recommended services. Thank you for your care, attention and considered approach, GDC is a model for others.

Bridge Dental Practice & Cosmetic Studio

14 St John's Rd, Isleworth TW7 6NN, UK – 020 8560 1544

Brilliant excellent skilled staff. Had a really good experience with no problems what so ever. Had a root canal. Never felt a thing in the two visits I needed to fix my tooth. Can't say enough good praise for this dentist all the staff including the receptionists were fantastic. Definitely going to use again, absolutely recommend.

A**** for dr.U.Maan, he was absolutely amazing with my son (5years old). Thank you very much for your professional work , you are just a nice person as well :)!!! Highly recommend to everyone who is looking for a good dentist!!!

Blue Wing Family Doctor Unit

92 Bath Rd, Hounslow TW3 3EL, UK – 020 8630 1300

I would like to say as a new patient having tried three doctors surgeries in Hounslow with very bad service that this practice has a great level of service of care and attention, especially by the Drs I have seen & phlebotomist Laura she has a sense of humour, she is gentle her manner is polite & respectful and put me at ease professionally during my blood test. Dr Najir was thorough and answered all my questions and gave advice on what to do next-also polite respectful and Dr Khan is polite helpful respectful and does all she can both are highly professional Doctors in my opinion I highly recommended the practice. Always polite, always have time, it's a busy surgery so the phone lines are very busy and you are on hold for on average 9 -16minutes but that's to be expected. Thank you Blue Wing.

Jubilee Surgery

Whitton Corner Health and Social Care Centre, Percy Rd, Whitton, Twickenham TW2 6JL, UK – 020 3458 5400

I have found the reception staff to be reasonably helpful and when the surgery has been packed out they have referred me to another local surgery with availability. However, the purpose of my visits are to see the doctor/nurse and these visits have always been very good. The nurse that I have seen there was always very friendly and the doctors have always resolved my issue. Dr Boohan in particular I found to be excellent.

I whould like to applaud the NHS services and all the staff , particularly Jubilee Surgery Whitton , for the professional and kind consideration given to both me and my husband Our sincere gratitude to all.

Dr S Gallagher

3 Thornbury Rd, Isleworth TW7 4HQ, UK – 020 8630 1058

NHS Direct is now NHS 24. Just dial 111 to speak to a professional or click the link below for there self help website. Lots of really useful info but keep clear of heart surgery! If in doubt ask your GP or call 111. Good luck.

Hounslow Medical Centre

134 Bath Rd, Hounslow TW3 3ET, UK – 020 8630 1011

Very good and reasonably fast service.

I don't visit the GP unless I have to. I moved to Hounslow Medical centre from the First Care practice due to their unresponsive nature. I don't see the doctors in HMC referring google for every symptom, unlike First care practice, which shows their skill and competency. I have always found the staff to be polite and approachable. All the doctors and staff are very caring and with an excellent service oriented mindset. Patients comes first for them. I would like to thank Dr. Nitin and the entire team of Doctors and staff who work very hard to make sure that we have a very good experience. One of the best surgery in Hounslow.

Lovely, warm home church to visit and become a member of. You’ll meet the kindest people ever right here!

I visited this church last week and found the people very friendly, warm and welcoming. The location is very easy to find if you are travelling by public transport or car. For a warm, spirit filled experience, take a visit there.

St Mary's Parish Church

Church St, Twickenham TW1 3NJ, UK – 020 8744 2693

WONDERFUL Regency church with fabulous design details and loads of history. Should be much more famous than it is. The services themselves are fairly low church, slightly evangelical in style. Expect puppets and accessible sermons.

Inclusive church, families very welcome. Have Sunday school, a creche, and a reading / colouring in area within the actual nave itself if you want to stay with your kids during the service. OK choir, better than most outside central London

Well organised site.

The aim of this site is to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill (20.9 million tonnes of it last year in the UK) and recycling is great news for the environment.

Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around Hounslow

Cinnamon Lounge

181 Twickenham Rd, Isleworth TW7 6AB, UK – 020 8560 8995

My favourite Indian restaurant ever. Not the best ambiance but the food more than makes up for it. The starters are amazing, the ginger fish and dry chili chicken are a couple of my personal favoutites. Service has always been great. Would highly recommend.

Though the paneer starter was nice but the chicken 65 was very salty. Chicken chettinad as a main course want good either. Still giving 3 stars as in the past this place has been good but today it was bit of let down

Old School Vegetarian Restaurant

248 Hanworth Rd, Hounslow TW3 3TY, UK – 020 7018 7830

With regard to the food I can not give enough praise. I've tried a different burger on every visit and I have always enjoyed my meal. Customer service has always been slow and lacking in friendliness, particularly on my most recent visit. I went on a Friday evening joining my 2 brothers who had been waiting for me for approx 20 minutes. Upon my arrival we were told they were too busy to take our orders and we had to wait 10 minutes. We waited for almost half an hour, tried to get the attention of staff but without result. There was a large party of students next to us blocking our way from our table to the front of house so I decided to call the restaurant on the phone and respectfully asked if we could get some service (just in case they had forgotten about us as we were sat in the corner). Moments later one of the managers came over, told us they still couldn't take our order and that he felt it was rude I had phoned them in order to get their attention! He actually suggested I should have got up and found a member of staff. Even after I explained how I physically could not get up due to the rush of uni students, he continued to tell us how rude I was for phoning them and refused to apologise. I have to say this had me worked up as he refused to understand my perspective as a customer, especially knowing that he was a manager, and the conversation did not end well. Once we got past that episode and after a patient wait to order and get our food, we thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I wish I could give 5 stars however the customer service and attitude really needs to improve therefore a solid 3 out of 5 for now.

Good range of meat alternatives for vegetarians. Very tasty and lots of flavour. Service is quite slow. The cooks seemed very young. A major ingredient was missed from my order and I wasn't informed until I had to ask. Portions are average sized. Very basic furniture and architecture. Definitely a lack of Cuban influence in the food. The owner was very pleasant

Zizzi Twickenham

36 York St, Twickenham TW1 3LJ, UK – 020 8538 9024

Attentive and friendly staff in a good sized and well designed restaurant with quality food. Not particularly cheap but also rarely disappointing. Wine is surprisingly affordable. Gets a bit crazy on rugby days. Big windows that are open onto the street in summer.

Really good experiece. 100% would come here again. One of the best Italian restaurant's in Twickenham. Would recommend. Wonderful staff especially Ben who served us.

Nursery and Preschools

Hounslow Day Nursery & Pre-School

20 Montague Rd, Hounslow TW3 1LD, UK – 020 8570 4409

I have worked at the nursery for nearly one year and I believe it is one of the best nurseries I have worked in, everyone is very professional and the staff work well as a team. I have recently enrolled my son and i couldn’t be more happier with the love and care which is provided by the staff. The managers are hands on and always offer support to the staff by stepping into the rooms when needed. Hounslow Asquith nursery is an outstanding nursery , this is shown in their practice and OFSTED rating.

Absolutely fantastic nursery! I have been working here for nearly 8 months and this nusrery has been the best of my experiences so far. Here children are in safe hands and don't feel far from home as we create such a fun and interactive environment. The management is very cooperative and motivating. The staff has always ready to help me on a number of occasions.I will highly recommend parents to join this outstanding nursery.

Love it gr8 skool

Alexandra Primary School

Denbigh Rd, Hounslow TW3 4DU, UK – 020 8570 6826

It's been a while since I've been here, but I'd definitely recommend this primary school for your children, it has plenty of learning opportunities and teachers always try their best for pupils to have fun!

I totally recommend sending your child here. I enjoyed this school very much and so did my siblings.

Chatsworth Primary School

Heath Rd, Hounslow TW3 2NW, UK – 020 8560 6019

One of the best school. We moved from India, my son started Y3 here, he was so impressed and developed in this school. A very kind class teacher for Y3-Buckingham Palace class. She takes care of all kids in her class. My son settled down smoothly with the kind class teacher helping in all best way. "Look at Chatsworth for Education"...

Our eldest attended reception till Y6. Been very well looked after. It's a progressive school and despite the government rating, the school results for the kids are far better than competing schools. It's not just academically minded, they try to introduce the kids to other aspects of life, so they go to musicals, and PGL trips overseas etc. A fair amount of the kids try for and achieve offers to grammars in other boroughs, normally at higher requirements due to being out-of-borough, as Hounslow has no grammars of it's own. Our middle boy is at reception now and the level of stimulation he is receiving seems to be a level above his older sister, which many parents like myself will surely welcome. It's just not the school, the catchment also attracts competent families, which will raise the expectations for all involved.

Public & Preparatory Schools

Radnor House Independent School

21 Cross Deep, Twickenham TW1 4QG, UK – 020 8891 6264

Some of the "reviews" on this school seem to be written by people who have no experience of it, or are written by people who have an axe to grind for various reasons. My experience is our son has been attending the school in year 7 and has so far completed two terms. Previously he was at Hampton Prep for his primary school years. My wife and I picked the school after attending a couple of open days and speaking with the teachers, who we found to be highly motivated and enthusiastic. Now we have two terms experience I think we can start to form some conclusions. The first is that our initial impression about the quality of the teachers has proved correct. Our son really enjoys school and has found new motivation to work hard to try and achieve his potential. We have also found the teachers to be accessible, constructive and helpful. One point to note is that a new headmaster has recently taken over at the school. He has a good level of experience having been a headmaster previously for a number of years. I hope (and expect) that the foundations laid by his predecessor will be continued, in particular with the method of recruiting talented teaching professionals. My suggestion would be if you are considering sending your child to Radnor House is to go along to an open day, ask challenging questions, and judge for yourself. The school is definitely worth including in your short list, and my wife and I are very pleased we chose it for our eldest son.

Nice school in nice location

Oak Heights school

Red Lion Court, Alexandra Rd, Hounslow TW3 1JS, UK – 020 8577 1827

We made a wise decision to choose Oak heights Independent School for our daughter. The school has high standards of teaching specially Maths and science. Mr.Dhillion the head teacher shows special interest in students day to day learning. He is very dedicated to the school and its progress. Mr.Prashar the physics teacher, explains the subject till the students get it, no matter if he needs to repeat it again and again. I strongly recommend Oak heights. As it is better than some of the grammar schools. The bonus is that extra tuitions twice a week included in the tuition fees. 5* rating....

Amazing school ! A very good learning environment

Ashton House School

50-52 Eversley Cres, Isleworth TW7 4LW, UK – 020 8560 3902

This is a excellent school! All the teachers have been working hard and this is reflected in the quality of learning the children have received and in their attainment. My son looked forward to school everyday. It is a very safe environment and any sort of bullying is immediately addressed and is not tolerated.

Great school. I'm a former student myself and I would recommend this school for children of any ability. Very good learning environment and encouraging teachers. Ashton House will bring out the best of you.
